In the past few years there has been an overwhelming demand in the industry for non-stimulant pre workouts. Whether they are being used as a stand-alone pre-workout supplements, or stacked with a stimulant companion to provide some of the craziest pumps and best sessions you would have had in a LONNNNG time.

One of the key ingredients used in these non-stimulant pre workouts, for its ability to provide enhanced performance and ultimately a thick, full pump, is Glycerol.

 

WHAT IS IT?

Otherwise known as Glycerol Monostearate, or in its patented forms HydroMax, GlyserPump, GlycerSize etc. This ingredient holds excellent capabilities to improve muscle hydration, performance, and pumps.

 
WHAT DOES IT DO/HOW DOES IT WORK?

One of the main effects of Glycerol is its ability to hyperhydrate the muscle. Meaning it draws an excessive amount of water into the muscle, creating an elevated state of hydration which when achieved, obviously allows the muscle to perform better in strength and endurance. A bi-product of drawing all this water into the muscle, makes it fuller and leads to a thicker, glorious pump that glycerol powders are notorious for.

When combined with carbohydrates, glycerol has also shown to have an even further effect on endurance and pump as the combination works extremely well, providing both extra hydration and nutrients/energy to the muscle.

 

HOW/WHEN DO I TAKE IT?

As Glycerol is used for enhanced performance and muscle pumps for exercise, it is best supplemented pre-workout. It can be taken as a stand-alone product, or within various pre-workout products on the market. To get the full effect of the ingredient, it is best taken at a 1.5-4gram dose, 15-30 minutes before training.
