The UK supplement company, BPI Sports have established themselves as a very well-known brand within the global fitness community. Their goal being to provide users around the world (including themselves and their impressive lineup of athletes) with the highest quality products on the market. BPI Sports top end protein powder ISO HD lives up to this standard, being a 100% pure whey protein isolate that goes through third party testing to ensure every tub is of the utmost quality and can be trusted by all users. So now we know about BPI Labs, let’s dive into their ISO HD protein review!

Key Points:
  • Contains 25g of pure Whey Protein Isolate per scoop, with only 1g of carbs!
  • Each tub is third party tested to ensure quality of the product.
  • Available in 4 flavours (Vanilla Cookie, Chocolate Brownie, Peanut Butter Candy Bar, Cookies & Cream)! All of which taste great and are made with natural flavouring.
  • ISO HD is Gluten free and contains less lactose than Whey Concentrate or whey Blends. Making it easier to digest.
  • The price per scoop is $1.70! Which is unbelievable value for a Whey Protein Isolate.
ISO HD FORMULA & INGREDIENTS:

To start off, a 5lb tub of ISO HD holds 70 protein packed serves, that each deliver 25 grams of 100% pure whey isolate protein with only 1 gram of sugar and 0.5 gram of fat, adding up to a total of 120 calories per serve. As seen in the product’s amino acid profile, each scoop contains 5.6 grams of BCAA’s and 4.5 grams of Glutamic Acid (a glutamine precursor), which will further promote anabolism (muscle building) and enhance the user’s recovery.

The flavouring for ISO HD is derived from both natural and artificial flavouring, along with the addition of xanthan gum to enhance the thickness of the product when mixed making it more enjoyable to drink. The natural flavouring on the ingredients list are salt, soy and sunflower lecithin, while the artificial flavouring are sucralose and acesulfame potassium (both of which are of course zero calorie sweeteners).

As mentioned within the key points, ISO HD is gluten free and therefore appropriate for use by anyone who is gluten intolerant. Though it should be noted that the product is manufactured in a facility that also processes egg, tree nuts, and wheat, if any of these present a problem to you, it may be safe to not use ISO HD.

RESULTS & EFFECTS

BPI Sports ISO HD is a whey protein isolate, making it the best form of protein to supplement post-workout, due to its ability to be digested faster than other forms of protein powder therefore aiding in recovery and muscle building both faster and more effectively. In saying this, ISO HD can also be used throughout the day in or between meals to optimize your daily protein intake.

As far as results go, in the short term this product will help with post-workout recovery, reduce muscle breakdown after training, and induce muscle growth. This will help with not only muscle gain, but the enhanced recovery will allow you to be ready for your next training session allowing you to work at a higher capacity without being held back by muscle soreness, which will in turn better your overall training.

The best part about the long-term effects of ISO HD is its versatility to compliment many different fitness goals. As the product is a high-quality protein source with minimal carb and fats, it can be used for fat loss, muscle gain and overall body recomposition. Over extended use of ISO HD in combination with an appropriate diet and training regime, users should expect to reach any of the desired goals listed and achieve better overall body composition and training performance.

FLAVOURS & MIXABILITY

ISO HD comes in 4 flavours (Vanilla Cookie, Chocolate Brownie, Peanut Butter Candy Bar, Cookies & Cream)! All of which have been trialled by the Muscle Maker Team and it’s safe to say BPI have done very well. Each of the flavours are great, but our personal favourites were Peanut Butter Candy Bar and Vanilla Cookie.

As far as mixability goes, ISO HD does require a shaker and may take a few more wrist flicks than other proteins. Though this is a good thing because when it is mixed up the texture becomes thicker even with just water, making it far more enjoyable to drink.

WHEN / HOW TO TAKE:

ISO HD is best taken post workout to enhance muscle recovery and growth. It can also be added throughout the day either with or in between meals to help the user reach their daily protein target. While the Muscle Maker Team have been using this product, we have mostly used ISO HD as a post workout shake and mixing it into oats to make a high protein meal to be eaten at any point in the day.

We do recommend implementing some form of carbohydrates with or in the post workout shake to optimise the effectiveness of the product. If you can be flexible with calories, a good quality carb powder is an excellent choice to implement. But if you are having to be conservative with calories, even a piece of fruit will suffice. This being said, the product is still excellent as a stand alone post workout shake, the implementation of carbohydrates simply optimises the nutrient delivery and further assists recovery.

FINAL WORDS:

As far as protein powders go, ISO HD from BPI Sports is of the top tier. Providing an incredible tasting, high quality, low calorie protein source that can be added into anyone’s supplement regime to help reach their individual fitness goals! Being made from 100% Whey Protein Isolate it’s makes for a perfect post-workout protein source and can also be used throughout the day with or in between meals. Being incredible value for its quality and with 4 great flavours to choose from it’s hard to go past ISO HD when deciding on your next protein.
