Dynamine Is Now Banned in Australia!


As you may or may not have heard, the Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) have enacted some recent changes to how sports supplements are regulated. Over the next few years, the way sports supplements are regulated in Australia will undergo an overhaul, in labelling, marketing and ingredient formulations. But one of your favourite stimulants – Dynamine – is being removed from the shelves much sooner. 30 November, 2020.

What is Dynamine?

Dynamine the trademarked name for the compound methylliberine – a stimulant alkaloid found in coffee beans, tea leaves and synthetic formulations. Dynamine helps boost energy, focus and cognition – all great benefits to a pre-workout supplement. Or read the full breakdown here

Why the Ban?

The TGA has assessed Dynamine has having ‘synthetic caffeine derivatives’ and ‘an unknown safety profile’.

When Does the Ban START?

Supplements containing Dynamine cannot be sold after 30 November, 2020.

Which Supplements are Affected?

Any supplements listing Dynamine or methylliberine on the label cannot be sold after 30 November, 2020. Unfortunately, many of your (and our) favourite pre-workouts and fat burners make the list. Here are the products Protein King currently stocks which are affected by the ban:

WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE?

Well, as with all ingredient bans, supplement formulators will find the next best ingredients to give you the energy, focus, stimulation and mood enhancement you need to get the best out of your workouts. There are already some great options out there that don’t include Dynamine, so for now, you can go ahead and enjoy those. As for the banned list above – once we sell out, it will be up to the manufacturers to reformulate those products and get them back on the market for you, their loyal fans!
