Agmatine

Supplement breakdown - Agmatine

Over the past few years with the ban of many stimulant ingredients often seen in Pre-Workout supplements, many companies have begun implementing natural stimulant alternatives to replace these compounds. In our opinion, English Walnut Extract otherwise known as Juglans Regia is the king of these natural replacements.

WHAT IS IT?

Agmatine is the product of decarboxylation of the amino acid Arginine (ie. arginine with the carboxyl group removed).

Agmatine can be found in low amounts in various plants, fish and meats, while it is also naturally produced via microbial activity in the intestines.

It is produced as a free form supplement in the form of Agmatine Sulfate, which has become a popular ingredient in many pre-workout and intra-workout supplements.

WHAT DOES IT DO/HOW DOES IT WORK?

Agmatine inhibits the enzyme that breaks down nitric oxide in your body, resulting in higher nitric oxide levels. Nitric oxide promotes enhanced blood flow to muscles by reducing the friction associated with blood flow.

Enhanced blood flow encourages better “muscle pumps” and vascularity during and after your workouts, while also promoting more efficient nutrient and oxygen delivery to muscles.

WHEN DO I TAKE IT?

To take advantage of the nitric oxide boosting effects of Agmatine, it is best taken 15 – 30 minutes before exercise

The estimated efficacious dose based on effects from certain products on the market containing Agmatine and their dosages, is between 500-1500mg per serve
