English Walnut Extract

Supplement breakdown - English Walnut Extract

Over the past few years with the ban of many stimulant ingredients often seen in Pre-Workout supplements, many companies have begun implementing natural stimulant alternatives to replace these compounds. In our opinion, English Walnut Extract otherwise known as Juglans Regia is the king of these natural replacements.

WHAT IS IT?

Scientifically known as 2-amino-5-methylheptane, this compound is a naturally occurring source of DMHA (Octodrine), the synthetic version of which is banned in Australia and therefore all products on the Australian market are prohibited to contain the compound. Luckily for all us stim-heads, English Walnut Extract was discovered. Derived from the bark of the English Walnut tree, this compound is extremely similar to the synthetic version, the only difference being which Carbon atom the Methyl group is bonded to within the molecular chain.

WHAT DOES IT DO/HOW DOES IT WORK?

It is a psychoactive central nervous system stimulant, and due to its close similarity to synthetic DMHA it exhibits very similar effects. These effects include enhanced energy and mental alertness, improved cognitive function, suppressed appetite, increased bronchodilation (relaxation of muscles in the lungs), an increase in ‘feel good’ hormones resulting in a euphoric feeling, and finally an increased pain threshold. Due to these effects being desirable while training and within a fitness lifestyle, English Walnut has been implemented within many Pre-Workouts and Fat Burners.

WHEN DO I TAKE IT?

To take advantage of the enhanced performance provided by this ingredient it is best taken 15-30 minutes before training. It can be safely stacked with other ingredients that aim to enhance performance such as Caffeine, Eria Jarensis, Beta-Alanine, Creatine, Citrulline and so on to optimise performance. Though it should be noted that some products on the market containing this ingredient along with other stimulants (Caffeine, Eria Jarensis, Synephrine etc.) may be to potent for certain individuals, and stimulant tolerance should be considered.

The estimated efficacious dose based on effects from certain products on the market containing English Walnut Extract and their dosages, is between 150-250mg.

    Hi Team.
I have found straight juglans regia extract to be far stronger than straight english walnut which is listed in inspired nutras DVST8.
Is it because the Juglans Regia extract is stronger than straight English walnut? They don’t list the English walnut as an extract – From my understanding, extracts isolate the ingredients making them more bioactive..

I can take less juglans regia extract and get a much better result than straight english walnut – I actually found the mentioned product to be weak lol..
